The Articles

There are two kinds of articles.

1. The Definite Article - The
2. The Indefinite Article - A,An

The Definite Article (The) :- Uses of the Definite Article

The Definite Article 'The' is used :

1. Before a singular noun used to represent a whole class

Eg:- The rose is a beautiful flower.

2. Before unique things

Eg:- The Sun, The Universe, The Earth, The Moon, The Stars

3. Before the name of mountain ranges, island groups, rivers, oceans, canals, seas, desearts, forests, hotels, ship etc..

Eg:- The Himalayas, The Hebrides, The Ganges, The Pacific Ocean, The Persian Gulf, The Sahara, The Arabian Sea, The Woodland (Hotel), The Titanic

Note :-'The' is not used before a single island, mountain peak or hill
Eg :- Srilanka, Everest
